If you’re searching for Mexican food, Savannah locals will typically mention Bull Street Taco. Located in Starland District, this restaurant serves up plenty of unique Mexican fusion dishes and is well-known for their handmade tortillas made from organic masa and flour. What sets Bull Street Taco apart from your typical taqueria is their unique take on each classic dish and their dedication to fresh, healthy and locally sourced ingredients.
For our appetizer, we chose the Queso Fundido. This queso dip was topped with roasted poblano, chorizo and tomatoes. The portions were so generous, we had to be careful not to spoil our meal. This is the perfect appetizer to share with a group.
For my main entrée, I chose the chorizo bowl, which was a bowl of basmati rice topped with chanco beans, potato, salsa, chipotle crema and an egg, sunny side up. This is a colorful and filling dish with plenty of flavor.
While the chorizo bowl had a fairly traditional pairing of flavors, there are plenty of more adventurous options like the Banh Mi Bowl, which combines Asian flavors like sesame seeds and miso dressing with carnitas and cilantro.
My husband got the Bull Street Burrito, which had rice, heirloom beans, jack cheese, guacamole, salsa and ground beef. This was another well portioned dish with tons of flavor. In addition, he got the Michelada Shrimp and carne asada tacos. Each had bold flavors, good texture and plenty of perfectly marinated meat.
Ambiance
One of the best things about Bull Street Taco is the atmosphere. The restaurant is decorated with vibrant colors and Mexican folk art, giving it a lively and festive feel. The outdoor patio, my favorite place to relax, is the perfect place for enjoying the Savannah weather. Overall, this is great place to hang out with your crew or relax by yourself and people watch.
