E-tang offers a large menu with both common and lesser-known Chinese dishes. Luckily, their menu features pictures of almost everything, which is perfect for those unfamiliar dishes. Standing out on the menu as a main draw for the restaurant, E-tang makes all their dumplings from scratch in-house. From their pork soup dumplings to their shumai, they are all must-try delicacies. We decided to start off our meal with the house special, soup dumplings. The savory flavors of the broth and tender pork filling were perfectly balanced. With each bite, it became increasingly clear why so many locals recommend the place.
For our main course, we decided to go with some more familiar Chinese comfort. We ordered beef fried rice, Mongolian beef, and spicy stir-fried beef. First off, the portions are large. The beef fried rice was hearty and satisfying, packed with tender beef and flavorful vegetables. A Chinese food takeout favorite that hit the spot!
The spicy stir-fried beef was my personal favorite of the day. The bold and colorful chilis and jalapenos added just enough heat to make the meal exciting. The flavors in this dish tasted a little more complex than the Mongolian beef and a little less rich, offering a better balance of flavor. I definitely recommend this one.
None of our food choices left us disappointed. We look forward to being more adventurous during our next visit and trying some of the more traditional Chinese cuisines that you won’t find at your local Chinese food take out restaurant.
