Savannah St. Patrick's Day

Video Tour of Savannah’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

Savannah is known for having one of the largest St. Patrick’s day celebrations in the country and I’ll tell you right now people, it does not disappoint. Looking back, if I had to pinpoint exactly what makes the event so special, I’d say it’s definitely the city and here’s why. They close off much of the downtown area stretching all the way down to Forsyth Park. It’s pretty fun walking through the streets, beer in hand, with thousands of other people dressed in green.

While drinking and walking through beautiful Savannah is always fun, this year we made sure to check out the parade. People lined the streets for miles with their families and friends to see all the cool floats, dogs, service members and more.

Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade

We started at Forsyth and walked all the way to city hall. We covered a decent amount of ground and got to see quite a bit. As you’ll often hear us say here at Savannah Secret Society, we LOVE people watching! It’s literally half the fun and this year was no let down. Everywhere we went there was something to see. From kilts and bagpipes to skateboarding dogs. Just hands down, one of the coolest things you can experience here in Savannah.

St. Patrick’s Day on River Street

After the parade, we made our way to River Street to check out what was going on down in that neck of the woods. Because oddly enough, it was extremely hard to find a beer along the parade route this year and Daddy was starting to get grumpy. So down at River Street was everyone who said the hell with the parade, we came here to party. As is their right.

Now if your goal is to just throw on some green and have a good time, I don’t think you can go wrong with making River Street your primary destination. Plenty of places to drink, plenty of people to hang out with and tons of picture-perfect moments.

Well, that was it! We only scratched the surface so make sure to treat yourself and check out the next Savannah St. Patrick’s Day.
