Betty Bombers in Savannah, GA: Review

Located in the historic American Legion building on the south end of Forsyth Park, you’ll find one of the best burger joints in town by the name of Betty Bombers.  Full of Americana, military history and pinup girls, the restaurant is as fun as it is delicious. If you’re in the mood for a burger or hot dog, Betty Bombers is a solid choice in one of the best locations in Savannah.

FOOD

Betty Bombers chili cheese dog, burger, and buffalo fried cauliflower in Savannah, GA

My personal favorite is the chili cheese dog, which is topped with fried onions, American cheese and chili. It’s cheap, filling, decadent and goes great with fries and a milkshake. Honestly, saying fries might be slightly misleading because I almost always spring for the chili cheese fries. Totally worth the few extra bucks. Go big or go home!

I also decided to try one of their specials during this visit and ordered the buffalo fried cauliflower. Not typically something I would even consider, but I was feeling adventurous. Surprisingly, the breading was perfectly crunchy and the flavor totally disguised the vegetable. Not sure what the point of fried vegetables are, but it was tasty enough for me to consider getting again in the future.

My wife got the Blitz Burger Special, which is topped with pepperjack cheese, jalapenos and bacon jam. The burger was flavored well and cooked to perfection. The combination of sweet, spicy and tangy was a mouthwatering combination. Definitely a burger worth ordering again.

DRINKS

In true diner fashion, Betty Bombers offers all the classic milkshake flavors with whipped cream and a cherry on top. More importantly, they have root beer floats, which my daughter really appreciated.

BOTTOM LINE

With it’s fun patriotic vibes and inventive American menu, Betty Bombers is one of the best places in Savannah to grab a burger. While the burgers are the star of the show here, it’s the chili cheese dog that truly stole my heart. This restaurant is a Savannah Secret Society favorite.

NOTE: While you’re there, I recommend you look up the history of the building while waiting for your food. The history here goes much deeper than the fun pinup girls and model planes.
