Living in Savannah has many perks. One of the biggest advantages is the ease of access to other coastal cities and their events. Each year, Clay County hosts the Clay County Agricultural Fair in Florida. It’s 2 and a half hours away from Savannah and yes, it’s worth the trip! The Clay County Fair was established in 1982 and has been growing in attendees ever since. The fair has award-winning livestock, delicious food, rides, attractions for people of all ages and concerts featuring some pretty well-known artists.
Live entertainment
This year’s musical lineup included big names like Nelly and Sublime with Rome. Many famous artists have also taken the stage at Clay County fair over the years. There are also many daily shows to watch with magicians, comedians, dogs and racing pigs.
Delicious food
You’re going to want to bring a big appetite and an open mind. So many of the food vendors offer unique treats and twists on classic fair food items that shouldn’t be missed. Between gyros, smothered chili dogs and spicy mango smoothies it was pretty much a cultural experience. This fair had more variety in food vendors than I’ve ever seen.
Award-winning livestock
The fair strives to educate the public about America’s agriculture. It’s a place where today’s youth can showcase their livestock and farm work. Many different animals such as chickens, horses, pigs and rabbits are setup for viewing. It’s a fun way to discover all the different types of livestock. The fair has several different competitions for categories like poultry, horticulture and hay bales.
Rides and other attractions at the fair
Kids of all ages can have an exhilarating time on all the different rides at the fair. Small kids can even enjoy a free kiddie train ride. There are also opportunities to get close and personal with some of the animals. The Pretty Bird Paradise was a huge hit! Clay County hosts The Clay County Agricultural Fair every spring.
