This year, our family bought tickets to the Savannah Animazing-Con. This was an anime and video game expo hosted at the Savannah Convention Center.
We got there early enough to secure some great parking and then made our way into the convention center.
Day 1, our family decided to keep things simple and ventured around the vendor area. The event had everything I would expect from an anime convention. There were plenty of places to spend money, a few famous voice actors, some neat cars with semi-appropriate waifu wraps and even a few fan service body pillows.
Most importantly there were plenty of people in cosplay. I don’t know about you but that’s my whole reason for going. Having a place to see people dress-up and enjoy anime.
Day 2, we dressed down and came back to check out some of the scheduled events/ like the Q&A session with Maile Flanagan, the English voice of Naruto. Definitely one of the highlights, it was great hearing about the life and works of Ms. Flanagan. She was totally down to earth and hearing her experiences as being the voice of one the most famous anime characters of all time, made it totally worth it.
After that, we spent a little more time with the vendors. It was so cool getting to see all the original art work and handmade items. Every artist I talked to had a unique story to tell and they were very proud of their work, as they should be.
Before leaving we popped our head in a game room and then decided to watch the last cosplay contest of the event.
Heading home and looking back on the last two days, it was safe to say that we had a good time. We got to dress up, buy some toys and meet the frigin voice of Naruto!
