This Tybee Island half-day itinerary is great for people with kids or those sensitive to long days in the heat. The family and I went on a dolphin tour and ate lunch at the Original Crab Shack. Everything here is engaging and it won’t take more than a few hours to see both.
Captain Derek’s Dolphin Tour
While there are several dolphin tour options in the area, we went with Captain Dereck’s Dolphin Adventure. It was easy enough to find and once you arrive, you can let your hair down and just go with the flow for the next hour or so. What a great way to see the Tybee. A little music, some ocean breeze and a dolphin selfie contest. It was a simple but enjoyable time. I highly recommend this tour if you’re looking to fill your vacation itinerary. Also, while a little too early for me, alcohol is permitted on the tour. So be an adult, live your best life.
The Original Crab Shack
Next, we made our way to The Original Crab Shack. After seeing the billboards around Savannah, this was a place we really wanted to try. It’s a little surprising when you first see it. This is not a typical restaurant; it’s much more than that. You can even feed alligators there. Sitting on the deck while looking out on the water and enjoying a beer after a morning in the sun was pretty great. The kids absolutely loved this place. Much more akin to a Rain Forest Café, this is more of an experience than it is a restaurant.
