Review of The Emporium Kitchen and Wine Market in Savannah, Ga.

With brunch holding such a special place in so many hearts, The Emporium Kitchen and Wine Market is worthy of both mention and praise. Easily one of the best brunch experiences in Savannah, the level of polish here was exceptional. From the atmosphere to the food, this restaurant hit all the right notes.

FOOD

During our visit, we ordered the lobster croque madame, pork belly benedict, and French toast.

Definitely one of the more striking dishes on the brunch menu, the lobster croque madame is made up of cold-water lobster, béchamel, gruyere, a fried egg and what I can only guess is brioche bread. Plenty of delicious lobster and cheesy goodness, I enjoyed every bite of this high-quality meal. You could even tell the egg was high quality by the color and texture of the yolk, which is no surprise, as this restaurant showcases many locally sourced ingredients.

Another knock out of the park; the pork belly benedict was probably our favorite dish of the morning. Smoky and cheesy, the level of flavor here was immaculate. While I thoroughly enjoyed the croque, I was greedily steeling bites from my wife’s benedict throughout the meal.

My daughter ordered the French toast, which was surprisingly special. I don’t generally expect much from something as simple as French toast but was pleasantly surprised. The cream, strawberry, white chocolate and matcha were the perfect mix of complimenting flavors.

DRINKS

The perfect brunch wouldn’t be complete without a bloody mary and mimosa.

I ordered the Port City, which was a more traditional bloody mary infused with local vodka, bloody mary mix and a house blend of vegetables. A drink was pleasant and refreshing in exactly the right way.

My wife got the Death by Strawberries. If you like strawberries, you’ll love this drink. It combines the bubbly taste of a mimosa with the natural flavors of strawberry making for the perfect brunch cocktail.

The menu also listed a few mocktails, giving my daughter something special to drink. She got the defiance, which had pineapple, citrus, ginger beer and chamoy. While my daughter wasn’t a fan, my wife and I ended up enjoying the drink. Our child eats, buttered spaghetti and burgers with only cheese and mayonnaise, so this wasn’t surprising.

AMBIENCE

My favorite thing about this restaurant was all the light. Tall windows run all around the restaurant, promising optimal lighting throughout the day. Everything else in the restaurant from the design and decoration to the floors and exposed kitchen, is clean and simple. While simple, there’s an easily visible level of polish here that fits perfectly with menu.

BOTTOM LINE

Overall, The Emporium Kitchen and Wine Market has one of the best brunch menus in Savannah, with a level of polish that is far above most. Each entrée was filling, flavorful and lavish in quality and taste. From the drinks to food, nothing here will disappoint. This is a Savannah Secret Society favorite.
